Uchibo Line Kimitsu–Awa-Kamogawa may suspend service September 20–21
JR East says Uchibo Line service between Kimitsu and Awa-Kamogawa may be suspended from around the evening of September 20 through the end of September 21 due to a typhoon.
Possible suspension from September 20 evening through September 21
At 6:54 p.m. on September 18, 2026, JR East announced that Uchibo Line service between Kimitsu and Awa-Kamogawa may be suspended from around the evening of Sunday, September 20 through the end of Monday, September 21, due to a typhoon.
Chikura–Awa-Kamogawa still expected to reopen September 20 morning
The Chikura–Awa-Kamogawa section, currently closed after a rain-triggered landslide, is expected to resume with the first trains on September 20. However, service may be suspended again from that evening because of the typhoon.
The previous article reported that Chikura–Awa-Kamogawa was expected to reopen with the first trains on September 20 and that replacement buses would run through September 19.

Check again before holiday travel
Passengers travelling toward Kimitsu, Aohori, Onuki, Kazusa-Minato, Hama-Kanaya, Tateyama, Chikura or Awa-Kamogawa should consider changing plans or travelling earlier. The affected section and start time may change with the typhoon's path. Check the JR East Uchibo Line status before departure.
