Uchibo Line Chikura–Awa-Kamogawa expected to resume September 20

Service expected to resume with the first trains on September 20

JR East announced on September 17, 2026, that Uchibo Line service between Chikura and Awa-Kamogawa, suspended after a landslide, is expected to resume with the first trains on Sunday, September 20. The reopening date may be delayed depending on weather conditions.

Replacement buses through September 19

Replacement buses between Chikura and Awa-Kamogawa will run from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Saturday, September 19. Capacity is limited, passengers may have to wait when buses are crowded, and journeys take longer than by train.

Check before travelling toward Awa-Kamogawa

Trains continue to run from Kisarazu, Kimitsu and Futtsu toward Tateyama and Chikura. Through September 19, passengers travelling toward Awa-Kamogawa must transfer to a replacement bus at Chikura. Check the JR East Uchibo Line status before departure.
