Uchibo Line disruption: plan extra time for school and work next week

With the Anegasaki–Kisarazu suspension continuing, discuss school and work journeys for September 28 onward with your family or workplace. September 24 television reporting showed a commuter being driven from the Kimitsu area to Anegasaki and queues for Tokyo-bound express buses at Kisarazu.

Different notices apply to different sections

JR East’s September 25 evening notice expects repairs between Anegasaki and Kisarazu to take at least about three months. Replacement buses from September 28 onward are still under consideration; starting date, frequency and stops are not yet confirmed. Chiba–Anegasaki runs about 30% of normal morning and evening service, without replacement transport.

Do not assume a replacement bus will be available on September 28. The September 26 reopening south of Kisarazu is a separate section.

Allow for possible delays on roads and near stations

More lifts and car journeys toward Anegasaki could add time on National Route 16 and roads near stations. This is a planning consideration based on the suspension and reported lifts, not a confirmed congestion forecast or travel-time estimate.

• Arrange return travel and a meeting point, and how to contact school or work.
• Allow time to reach the station and wait for reduced train or bus services.
• Use safe pickup points; avoid prolonged stopping near stations or bus stops and rushing through narrow residential streets.
